So Livejournal tells me that I haven't made a post in 67 weeks. I perceived this as an attempt to guilt me into posting, so here are some life updates from Adam.
I am still a GameStop store manager. My boss liked the fact that I fixed up my old store, so she moved me to a new store that needed some help. Initially I was worried, but things have been going pretty well. Two of the employees are cosplayers and every single one of them play Dungeons & Dragons. Needless to say, I feel quite at home. My boss also gave me a decent bonus and a raise, so I think I'll be sticking around a bit longer. At least until I get fired.
Additionally, my store did a midnight launch for Resident Evil 5. This is notable because we had a make up artist come and make my entire staff up to look like zombies. I have many photos, but they are not refined for the constraints of a livejournal post, so I shall add them at a later date. Needless to say, it was neat as shit. The regrettable portion is that I was so entwined with keeping things together that I did not get zombied. Terrible, I know. Though I have some exceptional pictures of my staff attempting to eat my brains.
Yesterday, I hit level 71 on my dragoon in Final Fantasy XI. My friends that play this game all have several jobs to 75, but not me. I play the game so sparsely that this is a genuine achievement for me. I have played since the North American launch, so I should likely be embarassed for taking so damn long. For some reason, I'm not.
I broke down and bought an Ipod Touch. No, seriously. Hold the fuck on. This is a big deal. Since my very first MP3 player, I have always vowed to never buy an Ipod. I have had www.anythingbutipod.com bookmarked since they came about. To me, the Ipod was a status symbol put into place by a company who used their lack of presence in the industry as a way to make them look "cool" or "special". Back then, Apple was the minority when it came to portable media players, so the people who owned Ipods were a small "elite" group, albeit by default.
So years later, this elite group is no longer small. In fact, this shit is mainstream. A year ago, I would have felt like an atomic toolbox buying an Ipod. Oddly enough, becoming so big has somehow made me dislike Apple less. They can no longer play the "small and elite" card. I suppose they have stood the test of time and gained my respect. It is also important to mention that my Assistant Manager at work let me mess with his Ipod Touch and I got fucking addicted. Goddamn those apps. Damn them to hades.
I'm cosplaying again. Its been years. I wanted to get back into it, but never had a costume that I wanted to do. Well, one of my good friends introduced me to something last year that rocked my fucking face off. I will not reveal my intentions simply because I don't want to jinx myself. It took me 3 years to work up the gumption to a costume again, so I certainly wouldn't want to mess it all up. Lets just say that its seriously neato and leave it there.
I think that's enough for now. Thanks to those who used their eyes to read my letters today.
